Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information Pubble uses, why we use it and the choices available to you.

Important beta notice

This is a detailed operational draft for beta testing. Pubble still needs to confirm its legal entity, registered address, dedicated privacy contact and supplier transfer terms with a qualified UK solicitor before a wider public launch.

1. Who is responsible for your information

Pubble is the controller of personal information used to provide the Pubble beta. During the private beta, privacy requests can be submitted through Send feedback to Pubble. Select “Safety or trust concern” and state that your message is a privacy request.

Before public launch, this section must be updated with the controller’s full legal name, postal address and dedicated privacy email address.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: email address, password authentication records, first and last name, city, country, date of birth, agreement versions and account status. Your full date of birth is private; Pubble calculates your current age for eligible public profiles.
  • Profile information: profile photo, gender choice, biography and up to three interests. Your last name is kept private from other users in the current product.
  • Pubble activity: Pubbles you host, join, leave or cancel; selected pubs; dates; group preferences; attendance status and group membership.
  • Messages and connections: group messages, friend codes, friend requests, accepted connections and blocked accounts.
  • Safety and support: reports, the people or Pubbles involved, details you submit, actions taken, product feedback and account-deletion requests.
  • Pub feedback: your one-to-five-pint rating and optional written feedback. This is private and is not shown to the pub, host or other attendees during the beta.
  • Notification information: your notification choices, in-app notifications, whether they were read and device push-subscription details.
  • Location and pub search: town or postcode searches and, when you choose “Use my location”, approximate device coordinates needed to return nearby pubs. Pubble does not currently save your live device location to your profile.
  • Technical information: information needed for authentication, security, hosting and reliable delivery, which may include IP address, browser or device information, timestamps and service logs held by our providers.

3. Information visible to other users

People in the same Pubble may see your first name, profile photo, city, biography, interests and whether you are the host. Pending and accepted friend connections may see the profile information required for that connection. Your email address, password, last name, precise device location, safety reports, blocked list and private feedback are not displayed to other users.

Group messages are available to current members of that Pubble. When a Pubble is cancelled or ends, its conversation may remain available to eligible members as a read-only record.

4. Why we use information and our lawful bases

Safety and service integrityApply eligibility rules, operate blocking and reporting, investigate misuse, prevent fraud and secure accounts. We rely on legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service and, where necessary, legal obligations.
Improve PubbleReview product and private pub feedback, diagnose faults and understand which features are useful. We rely on legitimate interests in improving the beta while limiting access to the information.
Optional communicationsSend push or email updates you have chosen. We rely on your consent where consent is required. You can change these choices in Notification Settings.
Legal claims and complianceRespond to lawful requests, preserve evidence and establish or defend legal rights. We rely on legal obligations and legitimate interests.

Your right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object to that use. We will consider your request and stop unless we have compelling lawful reasons to continue.

5. Group eligibility and automated rules

Pubble uses the gender choice on your profile to determine whether women-only or men-only Pubbles are available to you. Profiles marked non-binary, self-described or prefer not to say are shown mixed Pubbles. These are rule-based product controls. Pubble does not currently make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

6. Service providers and disclosures

We use suppliers to operate the beta, including Supabase for authentication, database and file storage; Vercel for hosting; Geoapify for pub and location search; OpenStreetMap data for mapping; and browser or device push services for notifications. Resend or another email delivery provider may be used when Pubble’s transactional email service is connected.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect a person from serious harm, to investigate suspected unlawful activity, or in connection with a properly managed business reorganisation. We do not sell personal information. Private pub feedback may support future aggregated pub insights, but the MVP does not provide identifiable responses to pubs.

7. International transfers

Some suppliers may process information outside the UK. Pubble must confirm each supplier’s processing locations and document the relevant UK adequacy regulations, International Data Transfer Agreement, UK Addendum or other lawful safeguard before wider launch. You may request information about the safeguards used for your information.

8. How long we keep information

During beta, account and activity information is generally kept while your account remains open so the service can operate. When you request deletion, Pubble will review and delete or anonymise information that is no longer needed. Some records may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary for safety investigations, dispute handling, fraud prevention, legal claims or legal obligations.

Pubble must adopt and publish a formal retention schedule before wider launch. Until then, retention decisions use the purpose of the record, its sensitivity, safety needs and applicable limitation or legal periods. Deleted information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups until those backups rotate.

9. Security

Pubble uses access controls, row-level database security, private file URLs, authentication controls and encrypted connections. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your password confidential and report suspected account misuse promptly.

10. Cookies, local storage and device permissions

Pubble uses storage that is necessary to keep you signed in, protect the service and remember requested app behaviour. Push notifications require your browser or device permission. The current beta does not intentionally use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. If non-essential analytics or advertising technologies are added, Pubble will provide the required information and consent controls before using them.

11. Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct or erase information; restrict or object to its use; receive certain information in a portable format; and withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful use. Rights are not absolute and Pubble may need to verify your identity.

Submit a request through Send feedback to Pubble. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.

12. Age limit

Pubble is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly permit children to create accounts. If you believe someone under 18 is using Pubble, report it through the in-app safety channel.

13. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the beta develops. Material changes will be highlighted in the product and, where appropriate, we will ask you to review or accept an updated version. The date at the top shows the current version.
